The Carina Nebula is a diffuse nebula located about 7,500 light-years away from us.

This is one of the largest nebulae in the sky and also the brightest.

It contains an unusually large number of star clusters illuminating the nebula and bright and dark nebulae within itself; its diameter is estimated at about 450 light-years!

In this nebula you can find, for example, the Keyhole Nebula.

The brightest star in the picture is Eta Carinae, it is a double star that in a few tens of thousands of years will most likely explode as a hypernova, it is considered one of the brightest stars reaching a brightness 5 million times greater than our Sun, this star emits more light in a few minutes than the Sun in a year. The aggressive ejection of its stellar material created a very small Homunculus nebula around the pair of stars Eta Carinae.

In the sky, the Carina Nebula is 8 times larger than the Moon, this object is not visible on the sky from Poland.
