The Heart Nebula is a place of very intense star formation processes and one of the most recognizable nebulae in the sky. It is 7,500 light years away from us.
In the center of this nebula we can observe a young open cluster called Melotte 15, which is a little closer to us than the nebula itself. This cluster contains a lot of stars, including several with a mass as much as 50 times greater than the Sun.
In the lower part of the image you can see the Fishhead nebula, which is 70 light-years in diameter and together with the Heart nebula form one structure.
At the top of the image you can see the small planetary nebula WeBo 1, which is approximately 5,300 light-years away and was probably formed 12,000 years ago. years ago and has the shape of an ellipse.
The size of the Heart nebula is approximately 330 light years.
