NGC 7331 is an unbarred spiral galaxy.​
It was discovered by William Herschel in 1784.
​
It is approximately 40 million light years away from Earth.
It is best to observe it in the autumn and winter in the south-eastern sky or at the zenith.
​
It can be recognized as a speck even in 15-centimeter telescopes.
​
This galaxy is about 120,000 years old. light years in diameter.
​
Interesting fact: Below the main galaxy there are four smaller galaxies
NGC 7335, 7336, 7337, 7340. Despite their close location in the sky to NGC 7331, they are not related to it in any way. All of them are at least 300 million light years away from Earth.
