The North America Nebula is a hydrogen-rich emission nebula.

It was discovered on October 24, 1786 by William Herschel.

It is approximately 2,590 light-years away from Earth.

It is best to observe it from the beginning of summer until October, when it is highest in the sky.

It can be observed even with small binoculars with a hydrogen or UHC filter screwed in.

It is estimated to extend for 90 light years.

Interesting fact: In the sky, it has an area 10 times larger than the full moon, and the total mass of this nebula is 100 times larger than the mass of our Sun.
